Summary of Work Packages
Each work package is designed to build on the previous ones, ensuring a coherent and comprehensive approach to advancing circular business models and digital technologies in the olive oil sector.
WP1: Project Management and Coordination
Work Package 1 involves overall project management and coordination tasks such as organizing project meetings, monitoring progress, ensuring compliance with the Grant Agreement, managing risks, and preparing progress reports. This work package will run throughout the project duration to maintain smooth implementation and address any arising issues promptly.
Objective: To ensure the effective and efficient management of the CIRCOLIVE project, including technical, administrative, and financial coordination across all partners and activities.
Key Activities:
- Overall management and coordination
- Organization of project meetings
- Preparation of project reports
- Monitoring and evaluation of project activities
WP2 - Identification of olive sector circular needs and emerging skills and/or professions for transition of the olive oil sector to a circular economy in the 5 countries
Work Package 2 focuses on conducting comprehensive research on the olive oil sector’s current practices and future needs. This includes mapping existing VET curricula, identifying technological gaps, and determining the skills necessary for implementing circular business models. The findings inform the development of tailored training programs.
Objective: To research and analyze the current state of the olive oil sector in the partner countries regarding the implementation of circular practices and identify the technological gaps and skills required for a transition to a circular economy.
Key Activities:
- Research on current circular practices and technological gaps in the olive oil sector
- Analysis of current and future skills levels
- Development of guidelines for revising or creating professional profiles and qualifications
WP3 - analysis and development of holistic circular business models for olive waste and by-product valorisation to support/promote innovation for circular transition
Work Package 3 involves identifying state-of-the-art circular business models and assessing their transferability to the olive oil sector. The work package develops new business models through collaboration with labor market actors, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. These models are validated through workshops and refined based on stakeholder feedback.
Objective: To develop holistic circular business models tailored to the needs of micro and small enterprises in the olive oil sector, focusing on waste and by-product valorization.
Key Activities:
- Identification and analysis of existing circular business models
- Development of new holistic circular business models
- Organization of workshops with stakeholders for model validation
WP4 - Design and piloting of vet curricula on circular business skills and entrepreneurial mind-sets in small-scale olive oil
Work Package 4 creates VET curricula based on the research and business models developed in previous work packages. The curricula cover circular economy principles, digital technologies, and entrepreneurial skills. Pilots are conducted in each partner country to test the curricula and gather feedback for improvement.
Objective: To design and pilot vocational education and training (VET) curricula focusing on circular business skills and entrepreneurial mindsets in small-scale olive oil production.
Key Activities:
- Design of VET curricula on circular business skills and entrepreneurial mindsets
- Piloting the VET curricula in partner countries
- Evaluation of pilot results and refinement of curricula
WP5 - Development and piloting of continuous education programmes with and within micro and small enterprise to build small operators’ skills on (i) the implementation of circular business models and entrepreneurial mind- sets across the value chain, (ii) deep tech domains in agrifood sector
Work Package 5 creates continuous education programs designed to build skills in circular business practices and advanced digital technologies. The programs develop with input from industry stakeholders and are piloted across the partner countries. The evaluation of these pilots inform recommendations for broader implementation.
Objective: To develop and implement continuous education programs within micro and small enterprises in the olive oil sector, focusing on circular business models and deep tech domains.

WP6 - Communication strategy and dissemination activities
Work Package 6 focuses on the communication and dissemination of project outcomes. This includes creating a project visual identity, developing printed and digital materials, maintaining an active online presence, and organizing dissemination events. The aim is to ensure the project’s findings and tools reach a wide audience and are utilized effectively.
Objective: To promote the results of the CIRCOLIVE project, raise awareness about circular economy practices, and engage with stakeholders across the olive oil sector and beyond.
Key Activities:
- Development of a dissemination plan
- Creation of printed and digital materials
- Management of social media and project website
- Organization of infodays, thematic workshops, and a closing conference
