The CIRCOLIVE project officially started on February 1, 2024, aiming to revolutionize the olive oil sector by promoting circular business models and integrating digital technologies. Funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, this three-year initiative involves leading organizations from Greece, Portugal, Italy, Spain, and Croatia. The project focuses on supporting the EU’s transition to a circular economy, enhancing sustainability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the olive oil industry.

CIRCOLIVE’s key objectives include developing transnational vocational education and training (VET) curricula, equipping small operators with essential skills, and fostering collaboration between educational institutions, research organizations, and industry stakeholders. The consortium, led by Vakakis and Associates S.A. from Greece, held its kick-off meeting in Barcelona, Spain, to outline the project’s goals and upcoming activities.

The project will conduct comprehensive research, pilot educational programs, and promote best practices over the next three years, aiming to ensure the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of the olive oil sector. CIRCOLIVE aspires to significantly contribute to the EU’s circular economy objectives by fostering innovation and enhancing skills within the industry.
